Wanted: Sheep, Numbered 1-1,000

What do you do when you're plenty tired, but your brain is so full you can't sleep?

I HATE when that happens. Usually it's when I've been writing before I come to bed and my mind is trying to work the kinks and upcoming sections out. I wake up exhausted.

Take a Tylenol PM if I'm really desperate and read until I can't keep my eyes open. This from a nurse who works night shifts for a living and has to switch to normal hours frequently. :)

Completely unrelated...I just finished re-reading your book. Even better the 2nd time!

Toss and turn like the Princess and the Pea. Look at the clock. Groan. Toss and turn some more. Lather, rinse, repeat until 5 minutes beofre the alarm is set. Then fall sound asleep. :-)

I listen to music, or call people in the middle of the night & ask "Are you asleep?" cause I'm a good friend that way.

I usually just turn on the tv or read a book if I've been awake for over 30 minutes. Then I fall asleep about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off.

I drink some hot tea (like chamomile or sleepy time) and hopefully that will do the trick.

You could call me, with TheDog's restlessness, I haven't been sleeping either...

Take a bubble bath and watch TV. I have tried the Tylenol PM a couple times, but it never works for me. It is SO frustrating not being able to sleep ... I hope you get some soon :)

I either read or listen to music to help me calm down or I take a little sleep pill. I don't like to but if my mind won't shut off, I still need rest!

there is actually Sleepy Sleep by Tylenol. It is just sleep med and it helps with the restlessness. Of you could always get back up and write. LOL!!

The one thing I don't do is take a nap the next day. Because once I get settled into a pattern of insomnia, it's tough to break. So, I drag myself through the next day, in the hopes of snagging some decent shuteye that night. Good luck.

As dorky as this sounds: pray. I just start talking to God and I find it mellows me enough to fall asleep. But thinking about that...do you think that's insulting? That I fall asleep on God?
