Big Fun

Very cool weekend. My groovy new friend Kristen (thank you, Lynette for the great connection) invited me to see these guys in concert, which was awesome. I'm a sucker for good music combined with a good cause, and these guys brought both. "Can You Feel It?" (the song they have on their MySpace page) is a happy addition to my jogging playlist. And the band is collecting socks & towels for local homeless shelters in every city they visit--how cool is that? It got me thinking: Could we do something like that?

So here's a question for you guys: if there was a way to make a donation to a local women's shelter at book signing events--say, for example, a collection of toiletries and makeup items--would you bring a lip gloss and a stick of deodorant to contribute to the cause? Just a thought :)

In other news, we saw Dan in Real Life (fun, although I didn't really buy Juliette Binoche and Dane Cook together) and took THAT DOG for a walk in the woods (where she showed her country-dog prowess by sniffing out the poop of small woodland creatures and rolling in it).

That, my friends, is a weekend!

If you made that your book signing cause, I would bring shampoo, conditioner, makeup, deoderant, hair product, a gift certificate to a local salon. I'd knock your socks off with my contributions, girl. I think that would be AWESOME. Do it. I bet people would do it.

And you're welcome for the connection. To quote Will Ferrel playing GW Bush "I want to be a unificator." It's what I do. In Jan, I will be adding Jane to the Trish/Kristen connection. In 2008, I just might be organizing an ABC (Awesome Blogger Chick) long weekend getaway. So the connections might get ridiculously huge. Bring That Dog, too.

I want to be a unificator.

I think your book-signing idea has definite merit. As long as you got some good publicity to let people know about your plan and request for donations, I think it could work great.

You have a lot of good ideas, Girl!(that should be capitalized, right???)

I think encouraging donations at your book signing is a great idea, and I'd definitely participate. Just make sure you have a game plan for dealing with all the stuff you collect--it may get cumbersome.

I really liked Dan In Real Life, but had to suspend disbelief over Dane/Juliette a bit, too. She's so much smarter than him! Overall, a sweet and funny movie, though.

I'd bring shampoos and hair stuff if this were your cause. I'm all for it! Haven't seen Dan in Real Life yet, but plan to.
