Slipping Standards

Am working very, very (very, very) hard on the proposal for book two. I've spent most of this week in my pajamas, which sounds far more lovely and relaxing than it actually is, especially as I live in the city and have a dog that often needs to be taken outside and emptied at times when the rest of the world is not in pajamas (I think she sometimes holds it until Steve gets home, just to avoid being seen with me).

I didn't realize how long it had been since I'd had a normal day until yesterday, when I was up and dressed by 9:00am for a haircut. I was absolutely GIDDY as I was driving to the salon--you'd have thought I was going out for chocolate martinis. I felt all swank and together, being dressed like other people at that hour. Sigh.

Today, not so much. It's pajamaland for me (I've noticed that THAT DOG has been steering clear of food & drink) until this evening, when we'll be going to an author event for this hysterical guy.

I'll have to look at my blog photo when I'm getting ready tonight for reminders of where the makeup goes...

Trish, staying in my pajamas and creating art in my studio while drinking coffee all day (chocolate martinis wouldn't start until 5 pm)is a long time fantasy of mine. Maybe you should look for some funky PJ's for the dog and go out for a fun walking adventure :)))

I think That Dog is just worried about how hot you look in your PJs so she's worried that you may get harassed if you go out in public.

I've been wanting to read a year of living biblically. I've also been wanting to say the word pajamaland.

Trish -- a friend of mine sent me a link to this post. I think we're kindred spirits! I write from home, and more often than not skip a shower in the morning so I can go straight to work. Before I know it, it's 5:00 and I've not brushed my teeth! I'm disgusting! I can't stand it!

Your memoir sounds wonderful.

I hear ya--my weekends have been similar with grad school applications. I feel like working that hard, and in such isolation, is a recipe for self-loathing. Hope a little night out does the trick!

I'm just like you and Lori - spend many days in pajamas, and sometimes showering and brushing happens late in the day.

When I worked in Corporate Hell, this sounded like a delicious lifestyle. No rushing! No makeup! Wearing comfy stuff! But too often, I end up feeling gross and unpretty during the day. There's gotta be some middle ground here.

Pajamas in public?! YES! But then again, I do live in a pretty rural area. Since I work from home, I try to have one day a week devoted to wearing my pajama dress (no, not a nightgown - confusing, I know) ALL day. And if someone chooses to drop by, that's on them.

Good luck with your work on Book #2!

That's so funny... can I tell you a secret? Me too! Ah, working from home!

That book looks fantastic. Our family has too many members so we pick names out of a hat to decide who we'll buy presents for at Christmas, and this year I got one of my brothers-in-law, who is very hard to buy for - but that book could well be The Gift.

Having a new baby means living in pajamas covered in sour-smelling spit up. Next to me, you are swank and together.

I'm sure after being in your PJs for days on end, it could get a little old, but seriously, that creative type of lifestyle sounds so fabulous to me right now! I'm so sick of my job! LOL

You know I work from home. I often take The Boy to the bus stop in my PJs. I stopped this year, though, due to the look of horror on his face. And today, the only reason I got dressed to work from home was because my 2 cousins are here. So I had to pretend to be respectable. I doubt I'm fooling them.
