A little of this, some of that...

Last night was Girls' Night: Friends, ice cream, wine, and the American Idol finale. I haven't watched this season, so it was interesting to come in at the end and see the final two. Our crowd was resoundingly in favor of Chris (LOVED the guitar & drums number...Simon was SO wrong...) with one vocal Adam fan keeping my living room full of non-voters from being completely one-sided. Both guys are pretty amazing, but I have to ask (for those of you more familiar with the Idol scene) WHAT WAS that last song they made them sing??? It was kind of ridiculous, totally written for a female vocalist, and way too high for either of them. I know that the one judge (WHO is she???) wrote it, but still, it was kind of a mean thing to do to those guys. Your thoughts?

In other news, I just found out that my author pic for book #2 has to be in by June 8th. Which means that if things don't go well with the new hair stylist in my new town tomorrow morning, we'll be looking at me in that green sweater for two more years. (Please pray or send good thoughts as you're inclined...)

I just started THE LAST SUMMER (OF YOU AND ME). It's sunny outside, and I almost feel like I'm at the beach with the characters. Love that :)

As requested ... new hairstylist prayer prayed! Question--Is there a specific angel that protects us from bad hair? (Wink)

Here's my hair-horror story: A number of months ago my stylist(?) gave me 70's-style angel wing bangs that she curled too short. I asked for the hairbrush and "fixed" my hair ... her response was "Oh! You wanted it to look pretty!". Lord have mercy.

If you like your new stylist, I may have to travel out of state for a proper cut.

Stella

They always make the contestants sing some stupid song as their "victory" number. Last night's was pretty bad though.

The "winner's song" traditionally blows. I don't care what talented songwriter they get to write it, it's usually tepid and bland, at best. I have no idea why they left it in that key for these two male singers. It is tripe.

I have quite a few friends very upset that Adam didn't win. Both guys are very talented and VERY different in style. So you can't really say one is better. And for those that are upset about Adam losing? Might I remind them of two little "losers" named Clay Aiken and Chris Daughtry? No one should worry about EITHER of these talented boys.

As for your pic, honey, you are gorgeous even if they put a dead raccoon up on your head.

Don't test out Lynette's suggestion. While you probably are still gorgeous with a dead raccoon on your head, I'm pretty sure that's the kind of trauma you never recover from. :)

Hope you find a great new hair stylist.

My favorite author photo ever was from an otherwise attractive lady who dressed up in a powdered white wig & Victorian dress even though neither of those things had anything to do with any book she had ever written.

I am going to try to be brave and go to a new hairdresser here ... I am freaking out as it is, and I don't even have to worry about an author photo!

And yes, that song was TERRIBLE!

Just don't tell the hairstylist that you feel the need 'for a change', or that you want to try a few highlights for summer....other than that you should be okay!

Whatever your new hairstylist does, it's bound to be better than my last haircut, which I did myself. (You would think I'd learn my lesson, but about once every 10 years I think I can cut my hair myself--not just my bangs, which I know a lot of people do, but the whole everything.) Ugh. But I agree with Lynette about your beauty, with or without dead raccoons on your head.

I don't know why they insist on doing that stupid songwriter's debut song, or whatever you want to call it, every year. It's always horrible!
