A Frog is Born!

I couldn't sleep last night. Too excited...too awed...too worried about whether or not it's okay to wear jeans to one's book launch party (they're pretty jeans, and I'll wear them with elegant, peep-toed shoes--does that make a difference?)

And now morning is finally here and I can say the words I've been longing to write since I drafted my first essay back in high school: My book comes out today! I know that this not news to most of you, my awesome blog friends who have been hanging out with me through this whole process--getting a contract, writing/re-writing/re-re-writing/trying to keep the whole story in the same tense, discovering that my cover would have a giant bullfrog and glossy red lips on the front...it's been a crazy two years filled with all sorts of unexpected fun, and I'm so grateful for you guys who have shared this trip with me--thank you!

Here are three ways you can take part in today's celebration, if you're in a partying kind of mood:

1. Get the book! As I understand it, first week sales are super-important, so a huge thank you in advance to all of you who invest (or have invested) your hard-earned money in my story!

2. Win the book! Head over to Manic Mom's blog and leave a comment about your first (or worst) kiss...we'll be sending a signed hardcover copy to the best smoochie tale!

3. Name the book! Last night when I wasn't sleeping, I realized that THAT FROG needs a name! So I thought we'd make today NAME THAT FROG day!

What does he look like to you? (Wilbur comes to mind...or perhaps Percival???)

I think he looks like a Roger...Totally random, I know. But I love it! Good Luck today, and I think jeans sound great with cute shoes. Very nice!

CONGRATULATIONS, TRISH! I have to say, the froggie looks like a "Hector" to me ;-) Enjoy your day!

Henry. And, wear the jeans. It's YOUR day!

I got the book and am beginning it this weekend - wanted to reserve good reading time with a solo couch and a glass of vino. Thanks for sending! I'll see if a Q&A or a review is in my bones afterwards.

That TOTALLY explains why when I scoured B&N on Sunday for a Trish Ryan publication displaying a smooched froggy I found nothing.

Your book was even better than I expected, and that's saying a lot. But more on that later... I went to Barnes and Noble to buy my second copy (to give away) and did my little part by turning them face OUT to be eye catching and then putting a couple of copies UP FRONT on the "Thought provoking" table (there was a little space there on that shelf that needed to be filled). I felt like such a rebel, rearranging their displays like that.

As you already know, I bought my 3rd copy today. I'm going to give it to my pastor's wife. I'll be buying another one on Saturday for another woman I know.

And I moved your book in the display because it was being hidden by some turnstyle type thing with impulse buy items. So you are now prominently displayed on the Featured Books shelf at the Family Christian Store in Georgetown, TX. And I faced your book at the big Barnes & Nobles in Round Rock. On Saturday, I plan to visit a couple of Borders to do the same.

Texas will know about Trish Ryan and her frog. And oddly, I thought of Percival before I read Sarakastic's reply. But I will love him no matter what his name is.

What an exciting night - I'm thrilled for you! And it is YOUR book launch - wear whatever you'll feel great in. Walking in with that kind of confidence pretty much nullifies the need to dress a certain way!

Names? Theodore and you can call him Teddy or Theo for short.

Yea!!! I'm so excited for you, and I can't wait to see you in Maine on Saturday. And I think Dwayne--he looks like he has a lazy eye or something...no offense to any readers here named Dwayne :)

Noooo! The froggy can't be Horton! That's an elephant!

Hope your launch party is awesome!

He looks like a Charles.

I ordered your book from Amazon last night along with Alison's book Department of Lost and Found. Looking forward to reading them both this summer.
