My Personal Trainer: Paula Deen

I'm quite certain I belong to the only gym in America that thinks it's a good idea to broadcast the Food Network in the cardio area. Today, as I slogged through my three miles, trying to convince myself that adding an incline to my workout would be fun, fun, fun, Paula Deen was looking out at me with that coy Southern smile, as if to say, "You silly girl. Get off that treadmill and get yourself some vittles!"

What was Paula making, you ask? Was she perhaps doing a segment on "Healthy Home Cooking" or "Low Cal-Carbs: A Girl's Best Friend"? Um, no. While I ran and ran and ran my way to nowhere, Paula made a big pan of baked macaroni and cheese. Then she cut the mac & cheese into squares, and wrapped the squares in bacon. Then she covered the bacon-wrapped mac & cheese squares in breadcrumbs and--I'm not making this up--FRIED the suckers in a vat of boiling oil. 375 degrees, according to the temperature gauge on the fry-o-later.

I'm guessing they don't invite Paula into the gym on the set of The Biggest Loser...

That may be the best post title ever! LOL!

Deep-fried bacon-wrapped mac and cheese...holy cow! Good for you working out through all that.

I once saw Paula Deen on Oprah (don't know how I caught it because I rarely watch), and almost died. That lady is crazy! She was making a cake (2 sticks of butter) and dumped the glass bowl in the mixer causing batter to splatter all over herself and on Oprah. At the time, Oprah was sampling the finished product. Well, the two of them were laughing so hysterically I though Oprah was going to choke on the cake in her mouth. But through it all, she kept eating more. It was hilarious! Must have been one yummy cake! :)

Wow, I think my arteries cloged just READING about deep-fried bacon wrapped mac & cheese.

And please, Paula, can I have one of those brownies?

I thought fried bacon macaroni squares was the base of the food pyramid

Paula Deen's food is so greasy that sometimes even I can't imagine eating it!

Yowza.... that's incredible. I saw a Food Network show where they wrapped meatloaf in bacon and deep-fried it... apparently it was awesome - but within 3 days I'm convinced all those who partook of it's deep-fried goodness had to get double or triple-bypass surgery. Obviously, the Food Network didn't show that part. ;)

I think after three miles, you deserve a little mac and cheese deep fried in bacon. It's only fair. I mean, you DID add in the incline and all.

Haha - that is my new excuse for never going to the gym.

Talk about grease! My gym might as well sell that stuff though. They have a cafe with smoothies, which is okay, but they also sell chips, candy bars, etc. It makes me so mad.

Uh! To broad cast the food network in the cardio area? Is that to remind us about the food we must burn out? Hey! that's sort of cruel... funny... but cruel! :)

And this is why I listen to my iPod and ignore the tvs at my gym. Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back!
