Let your voice be heard...or read, as the case may be

Not much going on here, which makes it kind of tough to blog. I missed blog action day, which is probably okay because I'm not sure I have much to say on issues like "sustainability." I'm still trying to live by the old motto, Recycle/Reuse/Renew, which is why I was so upset when the bag boy at Stop & Shop gave me such an evil look yesterday when he heard my response to "Paper or plastic?" He even said, "Are you sure you wouldn't prefer paper?" as if there were no possible way a thoughtful, sane person could still request plastic bags in this time of dire environmental catastrophe.

"I have a dog," I said, squaring off with him, unwilling to be told by a complete stranger that I'm not doing my part to save the planet. I AM doing my part, considering that as I continue to feed THAT DOG, she will continue to produce what one might artfully call a "stream of revenue" that requires picking up and throwing away for me to stay within the ordinances of our fine city. Said ordinances specifically request that plastic bags be used for the job. So take that S&S bag boy.

Now you know why they don't ask me to speak on Earth Day :)

Anyway, in the midst of all this not-much-happening (clearly demonstrated by the fact that I'm blogging about my right to procure plastic with which to scoop poop), I'm wondering what to blog about. What do you want to read when you click on Trish's Dishes? Stories about the writing/publishing world? Antics of THAT DOG? Random musings about faith? Let your voice be heard, so I can stop scanning the Comcast news page for stories like this...

I don't know, that story was pretty good! I especially loved that her friend named it after her, and that she is now using a training potty!

why would anyone admit to a reporter that they now use a training potty?

as far as grocery bags go, most stores I go to don't give me a choice so when I finally had the option I chose paper only to find out that they are impossible to carry. I wont be speaking on earth day either

I smiled, picturing you standing up for your right to plastic! As for ideas... do you use Stumble Upon? You go to Stumbleupon.com and join... click on areas of interest to you, and then a magical little icon in your toolbar will take you to all kinds of sites you might otherwise never find. I warn you that it can be addicting (a friend of my husband's yelled at him because my husband had told him about SU and he had ended up being up until 4 in the morning, stumbling). But hey, for a writer, it's all research!

Like ramblin' girl, I would like to read more stories about That Dog. Or, if you're willing, perhaps some stories about Steve to prepare us all for your book.

I like paper bags, myself, but I like having some plastic bags around for taking my lunches to work and also for litter box purposes.

I would love to read agent search, book sale, writing stories, aka the birth of your book!

..."stream of revenue"...snicker.

You make me laugh, and I appreciate that, but I also like to hear your thoughts on faith. And writing!

I love all of the above! You are such an entertaining writer... even your dog poop stories are fun to read.

All of the above, please, but I'm especially interested in your thoughts on faith. :-) (Although this post was so funny that OJ almost came out of my nose as I was reading it and laughing!)

You *must* have been shopping in either Cambridge or Belmont. That would never have happened in Arlington. At the S&S in Arlington, they'll wrap every individual item that you're buying in a separate plastic bag unless you say something. And, you should see the looks we get when we tell them we want to use the green, reusable bags (that we bought from the very same store!). It's like going back in time. I'm surprised the bag boys and cashiers aren't all smoking while working. ;-)

I can't imagine finding a snake in my toliet. I would probably have a heart attack. I might have to start check the toliet on a regular basis after reading that story! I had no idea that snakes really travelled through the plumbing. I thought that was only in Harry Potter...

Faith. Writing. How you DO IT instead of just thinking about it. And dog poop stories too. It's all good.
