Black (or brown or navy) is the new white

THAT DOG and I spent this morning picking the winners for the Frog Blog Bus Tour (with a very scientific system that might have included me spreading names out on the floor and seeing which ones she stepped on...) But I couldn't find email addresses for some of you. So I'm putting a call out to the following lovely blog friends...email me your addresses!

In other news...Steve and I went bargain hunting on Saturday at the Wrentham Outlet Mall. Oh, the happiness! I found a cute spring top (I'm going on faith that warm weather is coming) and some pants that were sized in terms of whether you're "straight" or "curvy" (which may be the grown up equivalent to those "Husky" jeans they make for chunky pre-adolescents, but whatever...) But the highlight of the trip was this conversation:

Me: "Honey--come see this purse. It's gorgeous, and it's like half-price, then another $50 off, then marked down 30% off of that!!!"

Steve: "But it's white."

Me: "So? It's almost summer. A white bag is perfect for summer!"

Steve: "But honey, you spill things."

Me: "What do you mean?"

Steve: "You know: coffee, tea, ink from pens. It would only be white for about fifteen minutes, and then you'd be sad."

Me: (Nothing. I mean, what could I say? He was right)

On the way out of the store, I tripped. On nothing.

Steve: "What happened? Are you okay?"

Me: (embarrassed, trying not to laugh) "I fell off my shoe."

Steve: "Imagine if you'd had a white purse..."

I was also at Wrentham on Saturday.
I had never been there before.
It was overwhelming and filled with shopping goodness and I loved it. Except for all of the people everywhere and the woman who almost grabbed a handbag out of my hands. Oy veh.

But oh the shopping! Oh the bargains! Oh the money I spent! Jeezus!!!

And I understand tripping on nothing. I do that all the time. I tripped in my bedroom the other day. All of a sudden, I was full of "ow...what the heck?...wait a minute..."

Don't you just love the snark all wrapped up in that doting husband? :)

Haha, that's a great convo. How do men always have those punchlines waiting? It's like they save them up for the perfect moment.

P.S. I'm sorry you don't have warm weather yet. As soon as you have it though you'll want to give it back. Yesterday it was 92 degrees here and I was dying for cool weather again.

I would have gone back, bought the white purse, and smacked Steve with it. Gently, of course.

I'm here also to report that I've tagged you for a meme today.

And all this was before I knew that I got chosen to review your book. I'm honored. And excited!

That's so funny...I tripped on nothing going up the stairs of my apartment building at lunch today. It was so crazy! And G just laughed!

I'm so excited for the frog blog bus!

I think a white purse is VERY washable. :)

LOL!! Seriously LOL. I have the same problem. Thank Gawd for Scotch Guard and Tide stain sticks.
I would have gotten it anyway...with all those discounts you actually saved money :-) at least that's how I look at my checkbook

hahaha oh, I LOVE it!! It's just too perfect. I love it... I can totally picture this convo taking place and it's hilarious!!!

You're clutsy moments are completely endearing, though, I must say!!!

...see this is the "American Idol Theology" at work! Someone loving you enough to tell you the truth before you end up on national tv embarrassing yourself is a beautiful thing!

Thank goodness I got in touch with you the other day. I'd hate to be called out like that in the midst of your blog! :-)

White is so overrated. OK, wait. It's actually pretty cool. But, like you, most of my white things never stay that way for long.

Wrentham Outlets are great! Did you get to play stroller-chicken while you were there? That's our moniker for dodging strollers pushed by insistent toddlers because there are too many bags in the seat for the poor tykes to actually ride. "Me do it!"

Found your site through a mutual acquaintance and have been lurking here quite awhile. I decided to de-lurk and tag you with a meme because I think you'd come up with some great classes. If you get a chance, stop on by http://mummabootimes2.wordpress.com/2008/04/15/5-classes/

Thanks! And congrats on the book! I'm looking forward to reading it.

You sound exactly like me. I LOVE white stuff, but am clumsy beyond belief. People are constantly shocked by how often I trip over "nothing."

I LOVE Wrentham :)

And can't wait for your book!
