Quality Time

My sister is coming to visit today! There will be shopping! There will be chocolate martinis! There will be embarrassing scenes at Target when we both hear a favorite Bee Gees tune blast over the sounds system and break into moves from Saturday Night Fever!

And after it's all over, we'll both leave the state for awhile to let things cool down :)

I'm off to the train station...in the meantime, if you've seen the subtitle of my book (specifically where it mentions "faith" in between "finding" and "happily ever after") and wondered if that might be more than you want to sign up for, check out Nilsa's thoughtful review here.

Tomorrow, remind me to tell you about my first big speaking experience, and how what I said is now a podcast....and how listening to it made me realize that there's no such word as "determinator," no matter how much I might wish it so...

There is too a word "determinator." In fact, there is a superhero character--The Determinator--played by Arnold Schwartzennager's bookish, slightly pudgy, and balding-but-oh-so-sexxy-and-adorable cousin, Pokey (real name is Walton, but the clan couldn't handle the sound of that). Pokey, The Determinator, acts as the "judge" for all student mediation trials at Private University For Rich Kids Who Want To Go To Frat Parties More Than The Classroom. He helps determine right from wrong, too drunk from not drunk enough, appropriate color combinations for argyle sweaters and outright-hideous-color-beasts-that-should-never-be-in-existence, and a decent ice cream sundae from a damn good ice cream sundae.

On my to do list for the day is to say determinator at least 12 times. I will make it a word.

Aw, you make me miss my sister. I can't wait until she can come visit me once again. (I've already started trying to convince her that Chicago is the *ideal* post Peace Corps destination!)
