Culinary Cry for Help!

Ack! I just remembered that I promised to bring some sort of "savory dish" to a Christmas party tomorrow night. Too bad I don't know any savory dishes. And I like the people who will be at this party far too much to subject them to the "special sausage sauce" I found on recipes.com last New Years Eve, which consisted of the following instructions: "combine one cup ketchup with one cup grape jelly. Cook in crock pot for 45 minutes and serve."

If anyone out there has a savory dish recipe that doesn't break the basic laws of condiment separation (preferably one that cooks quietly in a crock pot while I take the dog to the groomer and finish up my Christmas shopping), PLEASE email me at trishstevekylie AT yahoo DOT com.

Muchas, Muchas Gracias!

Impressive yet simple desserts? Yes. Easy savory dishes? No. Although, I must admit, I'm not sure what exactly falls into that category. Good luck, L&T Lady! I'm sure you'll channel the spirit of Donna Reed at exactly the right moment.

I have to step up and defend the "special sausage sauce" recipe. I actually use that quite often to make Old School Meatballs for parties and people hoover that stuff up like it's going out of style. I use chili sauce rather than kethcup, per Betty Crocker. Anyway, it sounds like the most vile combination on earth, but something happens when those two substances are combined to produce savory (with a hint of sweet) deliciousness.

I'm at the same stage you are. Only I have a few dishes to come up with, yet have no idea what to make. Try googling recipes maybe.
